Let Go

Job hunting in 2025 feels like preparing for a performance — and forgetting where the stage is.

In this job market, you’re expected to have polished answers, a portfolio of tools, and a resume that screams plug-and-play. But the more I rehearse, the more I overthink — and the further I feel from my own voice.

Lately, I’ve been reading The Universe Has Your Back, listening to Girl, Wash Your Face, and watching The Chosen. Different sources, but all pointing to the same lesson: Sometimes we don’t need more control. Sometimes we just need to surrender.

Surrendering isn’t about giving up — it’s about tuning in.

When I overanalyze, I disconnect. But when I let go — when I trust that my path is valid even if it’s not flashy — I find myself gravitating toward the *right* opportunities. The right conversations. The right people.

It’s not about a perfect interview. It’s about showing up with heart, not hype.

Yes, skills matter. But so does integrity, loyalty, teachability, and alignment — especially in roles that require long-term investment and trust.

Some candidates rise through fast climbs and flashy titles. Others build quiet, steady foundations. Both can be brilliant.

As an “elder millennial” navigating a tech-heavy, fast-moving workforce, I’m learning to stop apologizing for the path I’ve taken. My experiences, my curiosity, my resilience — they’re not gaps. They’re assets.

So, to fellow job seekers: If you’re feeling overlooked, know this — the right fit isn’t always about what you’ve mastered. It’s about who you are when no one’s watching.

And to hiring teams: If you’re looking for someone willing to show up fully, grow deeply, and stay grounded — we’re out here.

We’re just not always the loudest in the room.
